Ray wrote a review of the JB's gig for you.

At the beginning of November I was browsing through my local gig guide planning my months gigs when I turned the page & nearly had a multiple orgasm!!! The Georgia Satellites playing in the UK! Like an excited child I went home to find some more info on the net. Well it turns out it wasn't the Satellites as I remembered them but who cares? I'd seen Dan in the Yayhoos a year or two ago & that was a gig to I won't forget, so this could only be better.

JB's isn't my favourite venue in the Midlands. For a start it's a nightclub, it's a bitch to find if you're not a regular & I don't rate the sound too highly either. I arrived just in time to see the Facez. Half of the club was curtained off & a small crowd had assembled around the bar area Well, it was a Sunday night & nightclubs & Monday mornings don't mix too well! I'd recently had the pleasure of seeing the Facez play a full set at my local, so I knew how good they are & they didn't disappoint either.

After a short break while the stage was set-up we had the main event, what we had all come to see DAN BAIRD & friends... No fancy dramatic intros with this lot, they just walk on stage & let it rock! Just as it should be. Most of the crowd had now found their way onto the dancefloor for a bit of good-time rock 'n' roll! The set comprised a mixture of Satellites material & well known covers & songs I've never heard before. From my memory we were treated to I Dunno, Dan takes Five, Nights of Mystery, Railroad Steel, Keep your Hands to Yourself, Over but the Crying & Shelia. I'm sure the were others I just can't remember them now. Disappointingly, absent from the set was Battleship Chains.

So after what seemed like five minutes they said goodnight, left the stage, the gig was over & I was on my way back home. Let's hope Dan comes back again soon & next time with the classic Satellites line-up, Dan Baird, Rick Richards, Rick Price & Mauro Magellan.

Cheers,
Ray
