This was a very cool Dan gig for me. I have just moved back home to Scotland after living in London for 17 years where I managed to catch a whole load of Sats/Dan/Yayhoos (probably all of them) shows over the time. On the 30th me and my (8 months pregnant) wife spent the day moving into our new house which was pretty damn tiring and the end of a very stressful month. We did however, have tickets to see Dan at Nice & Sleazy's which I found out was a pretty small club with nice people and a good atmosphere. I even met Dan briefly as he walked in just before showtime. We managed to get a seat as being pregnant seems like hard work. As a gesture of solidarity, I got myself beer. Plus you could stand on the seats at the side and get a good view which is cool as my wife is pretty small.

So, what of the show??? I reckon that after all this time Dan has an embarassment of riches as far as his back catalogue goes and with so many great songs to choose from, the show went by really fast - I got all my own personal favourites like L'il Bit from 'Buffalo Nickel', 'Sheila', etc etc etc - too many great songs. Dan is one of the best live acts I've ever seen. The band were great and even the jams and stuff don't drag. Some cool surprises like a funky version of 'Walking the Dog' and 'Tell My Fortune' from 'Keep The Faith' (the Sats, not Bon Jovi). The personal highlight for me was that the Ken,Mauro & Keith were amazing and Dan was playing great guitar and dragging out some honkin' Tele tones. When they dropped the clutch and kicked into a song like 'Myth Of Love' it has never sounded better to me. I've been going to gigs for over 25 years and seen damn near everybody worth seeing in places from dives to enormodomes, but seeing great rock & roll in a small club where 2 guitars kick up dust and you can walk to the bar in 10 seconds is where its at and nobody does that better than Dan Baird! My wife started flagging at the 2 hour mark ( I think just seemed like one great song after another) so we bailed during 'Railroad Steel'. We're booking a babysitter for his next visit back to Scotland. Y'all come back now !!!!
