Me & the gang arrived at the Podium in Hardenberg somewhere ninish. The Dutch support band Blues Authority was doing their best. And they sounded pretty OK, too.
Around a quarter to ten Dan & Co. were on. First thing we noticed was that they were very loose and in a joking kinda mood. Dan to Keith: 'That shirt's really working for you, Keith!' They started out with Lil' Bit, still a damn good song.

Check out Keith's shirt!

The audience was a little hesitating, so Dan called for some noise. I'm afraid that didn't work. It stayed a bit quiet.
In the gig, all the right elements were there. However, nothing from the 'new' album! Highlight for me was the Sheila-Pills-Sheila medley and I remember they played a part of Get it On, which sounded as mean as you can get it, so fabulous.

Ken, Mauro, Dan & Keith... still rockin' their ass off so be it a tough audience!

The gig was short, after one hour of good fun they had to make place for Ten Years After. The people who put this band on the road should be imprisoned and that's all I have to say about that. The venue was good, only a rather large (and low!) standing area in front of the stage with a couple of bars ond the sides. The place has besides the concert hall a disco hall, a snackbar and a pub. You really don't want to end up in the pub, I'm tellin' ya!

My good friend Roland had his guitar signed by Dan after the gig. We were fortunate enough te be invited to talk to Dan backstage. He told us that the band felt not too good about the crowd not responding. However, he was in a good mood and we have to understand of course that it's always better when you are the only band on the bill. So I'm sure this tour will only get better!

Mick Brown was -loyal as ever- selling the merchandise at the venue. If you don't have your copy of Out of Mothballs yet, you can pick it up during the show. The new release of Ken's Slumpy Boy album is for sale, plus 'Love School' by Mauro's other band, The Crashers. I've heard it and I like it a lot! I can also recommend the cool T-shirt that is for sale (thanks Frits Bos for making a decent photo!)
